While the Sierras get all the attention, the Inyo Mountains are beautiful in their own way. I like going up Silver Canyon out of Laws, or driving up out of Big Pine and gathering Pinyon nuts. The old Southern Pacific narrow guage right of way runs along the base of the Inyos, and one of these days I'm going to get around to hiking it from Laws to Big Pine. Updated March 14, 2004 |
