Angry Again! (or still?)

I'm a moderate - that means most Democrats think I'm a right-wing extremist. It makes me laugh when I hear liberals saying they "want to take their country back." What have they been smoking? They sure don't seem to have a very good collective memory. Over the past 30 years, this land has been getting progressively LESS conservative, so I want MY country back.

Liberals are trying to load our courts with judges who don't apply the law, but rather interpret it to mean whatever they want it to mean. What ever happened to "rule of law"? It just goes on and on... so I want MY country back.

Why does it seem like Democrats - even so-called "moderate" ones - are so angry about everything all the time? Especially about anything that President Bush does? They're angry with him because he (multilaterally) invaded Iraq, though some grudgingly admit that Iraq and the world are better off without Saddam in power. Paradoxally, they are also angry with Bush because he DIDN'T (unilaterally) intervene in Haiti to "save" the Aristide presidency - even though doing so would have given Haitians and the rest of the world the impression that the U.S. was propping up a corrupt, unpopular quasi-dictator.

When the president ran a couple of TV ads touting his record regarding the war on terror, some Democrats threw a hissy fit, accusing him of "exploiting" the events of September 11 for political gain. When he ran TV spots pointing out John Kerry's voting record in the Senate, they cried "negative campaigning!!!", even though Kerry has been running negative attack ads against President Bush for months. I wonder just what they think the President should base his campagn on. According to them, if he runs on his record, he is exploiting historical events and tragedies, and if he talks about his opponent's record, he is running a negative campaign.

It seems as if they are so angry that it is making them dilusional. They attribute things to President Bush that he never even said. My favorite one is that BUSH LIED!!! because he used the "eminent threat" posed by Iraq as an excuse to invade them. In reality, he said just the opposite - that if we wait until the threat is eminent (in other words, it's not currently eminent), it would be too late. Democratic Congress-critters vote for President Bush's proposals (No Child Left Behind, Patriot Act, etc) and then attack him for the exact things they voted for. I really believe that if President Bush was to single handedly discover a cure for AIDS or cancer, the Democrats would find some way to put a negative spin on it.

If the Democrats want to lead this nation of ours, they really need to stop acting like a spoiled 8 year old throwing a temper tantrum and start acting like adults. I would sure like to hear some of their ideas (besides rasing taxes and gutting the 2nd Ammendment). Perhaps they could explain, for example, how raising taxes would benefit the economy or result in less unemployment, instead of just complaining that President Bush's tax cuts "only benefited the rich." Or maybe they could explain why a policy of regime change in Iraq was a good thing when Clinton was president, but a bad thing now that Bush is. Whatever, they need to tone down the rhetoric. Attempting to compare Bush to Hitler or floating outragous "theories" (Bush new about 9/11 before it happened) is not behaviour one would normally associate with rational adults. If they don't like the President's policies, then fine, debate the policies. If they have good alternatives, then fine, let's hear them. If all they can do is throw tantrums though, they ought to just shut up.
